About Department of Pharmaceutics

The Department of Pharmaceutics is a center of excellence in pharmaceutical education, research and innovation dedicated to the science of dosage form design, drug delivery and product development. The objective of department is to provide students and researchers with a comprehensive understanding of formulation science, while encouraging innovation in the development of new pharmaceutical formulations, process optimization technologies and next generation drug delivery technologies.

By integrating pharmaceutical sciences with pharmaceutical engineering, material science, and modern analytical techniques, the department promotes interdisciplinary and translational research to address emerging challenges in drug delivery, formulation development, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

  • Advanced Drug Delivery Systems : Oral, transdermal, ocular, pulmonary, nasal, and targeted drug delivery platforms.
  • Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine : Polymeric and lipid nanoparticles, nanoemulsions, nanogels, and multifunctional nanocarriers for improved therapeutic outcomes.
  • Solubility Enhancement and Bioavailability Improvement: Lipid-based formulations, amorphous solid dispersions, inclusion complexes, and advanced formulation strategies for poorly soluble drugs.
  • Wound Healing and Regenerative Pharmaceutics: Advanced wound dressings, Hydrogel- and nanogel-based wound healing systems.
  • Topical, Transdermal, and Mucoadhesive Drug Delivery: Hydrogels, organogels, emulgel, topical creams, ointments, and lotions, Transdermal patches and microneedle-based systems
  • Smart and Stimuli-Responsive Drug Delivery: In situ gel formulations and intelligent polymeric drug delivery platforms
  • Herbal and Phytopharmaceutical Drug Delivery: Nano-enabled delivery of phytoconstituents, phytosomal and lipid-based herbal delivery systems, standardized herbal formulations and Natural product-based therapeutics.
  • Sustainable and Green Pharmaceutics: Eco-friendly formulation development, biodegradable excipients and green manufacturing technologies.
Facilities & Resources
  • AICTE-MODROB-funded Advanced Instrumentation Laboratory equipped with HPLC, FT-IR Spectrometer, UV–Visible Spectrophotometer, Brookfield Viscometer, Microprocessor-based pH Meter, Calorimeter, and Digital Magnetic Stirrer for advanced pharmaceutical research and quality analysis.
  • Advanced analytical and characterization instruments including UV–Visible spectrophotometer, dissolution test apparatus, disintegration tester, friability tester, hardness tester, pH meter, Brookfield viscometer, and digital melting point apparatus.
  • Pilot-Scale Pharmaceutical Processing Facility with tablet, capsule, liquid, and semisolid manufacturing equipment supporting formulation development, process optimization, scale-up, and industrial simulation.
  • In-vitro Drug Release and Formulation Evaluation Facilities for dissolution, diffusion, viscosity measurement, physicochemical characterization, and stability assessment of pharmaceutical dosage forms.
  • Computational pharmaceutics resources with access to software for formulation optimization, molecular modeling and pharmacokinetic analysis.
  • Digital Library and Research Resources offering access to institutional library services, electronic databases, scientific journals, pharmacopeia’s, patents, and online information resources to facilitate academic and research excellence.

We collaborate with IIT Kanpur, BHU, CSIR laboratories, and leading universities through joint research, faculty exchange, and interdisciplinary projects.

Strong industry partnerships support internships, training, consultancy, and collaborative innovation, while students and faculty showcase their research through TechExpo, National and International conferences, workshops, Hackathons, and Scientific exhibitions.

About Department of Pharmacology

The Department of Pharmacology stands as a cornerstone of pharmaceutical education and research, deeply committed to exploring and understanding the intricate mechanisms of drug action, efficacy, and safety. Our primary objective is to equip students and researchers with a robust foundation in pharmacological sciences while encouraging innovation in drug discovery and development.

By integrating principles of basic biomedical sciences with insights from clinical practice, we foster a dynamic and translational research environment. Our faculty and students are actively engaged in investigating novel therapeutic agents, evaluating drug safety profiles, and studying the molecular basis of disease. This approach enhances academic learning and contributes to real-world healthcare advancements.

  • Neuropharmacology and Psychopharmacology: Evaluation of CNS-active agents on behavior, memory, anxiety, depression, and neurodegeneration using in vivo and in vitro models.
  • Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders: Pharmacological studies on diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia, focusing on insulin sensitivity, glycemic control, and vascular function.
  • Anti-inflammatory and Analgesic Drug Evaluation: Screening compounds for inflammation, pain, oxidative stress, with traditional and novel pathway focus.
